I downloaded the Solaris 11.2 Live media image and USB image, "burned on USB" with OsolLiveUSB (apparently a good solution to make a bootable Solaris USB). When finished I was eager to see how it will work out for my Dell Alienware laptop (around 2005). No success. All I can see is a blinking underscore character with no other option to reboot or shut down.
My question is now, how to even get the bare basics done as a prerequisite like making a bootable USB? What's the catch here in all this? With all Linux OS versions there was never a problem making a bootable USB. So, how can it be that UNIX is any that much different in the process making a bootable USB if there is an option already to download the USB image?
I did not find any workable solution for the problem, but either it's the Solaris' community best kept secret or the YouTube videos are plain inaccurate.
May I ask you, the experts, how to get a bootable USB with Solaris? A step by step guide, a PDF, a video or if it's secret, a PM (just kidding)
Thanks in advance if someone might be able to help me.
