How to enter non-ASCII symbols in a JTextArea
807580Aug 30 2010 — edited Aug 31 2010A user asked me a question today that I have been unable to answer from a Google search or review of the Java documentation. If an application has a JTextArea and the user operating an American-style keyboard wishes to enter a non-ASCII character (a tilde, an accented e, an umlaut, a copyright symbol, etc.), are there key sequences that will allow him to do so? I was thinking that there might be some kind of alt key combination that would let him enter unicode values. Is anything like that supported?
