How to enable "Edit > Select All" and "Edit > Deselect All" features

I am looking for the code which can be put in a custom form so as to enable Select All and Deselect All features (from Edit menu) in a multi-record block, where each record has a checkbox attached.

If someone has done that, can you pls provide the code and guidelines. Or, pointer to any documentation on this..
