how to do a data cut over after tested migration with the application

redologger-OCSep 7 2014 — edited Sep 9 2014

Hi,

i am planning to do a migration from 10.2.0.5 (32bit) to 11.2.0.4 (64bit) windows version.

i am planning to ->

1. perform a cold backup from current database

2. port over the cold backup data files to the new box

3. perform the migration tasks steps (manuelly upgrade steps)

4. application testing

here is my questions:

am i able to apply the archive logs from the current database into my new upgraded database (11g)?

As in if the application are given 2 weeks to do their testing on the new 11g database (which the new box will be running side by side with the current one) i was thinking

to apply the archivelogs from the current database to being the new database forward.

is the method possible? how do you guys do the data cut over so that i can offically point the application to the upgraded 11g database?
