how to disable full page refresh on commandbutton

Hi all.

I want use command button to some action (action listener). When i click on button my page refresh. How can i use any button without full page refresh (for example toolbar button doesn't refresh page).
When I put command button in popup and click it - i see full page refresh and rerender my popup, but i need just simple action... Maybe i must use another component?
