How to determine the # of instances one needs?

Hi,

Our current Oracle environment (1 physical instance) houses a data warehouse, 1 data mart, oracle BI and Oracle Spend Analytics. What is a good approach to investigate if my current instance is powerful enough to sustain the various applications? I am afraid that as more users use the various apps - performance will degrade.

Please point me to readings that may educate me further, thanks much.
