How to delete mail folder for a user

Recently a user reported when he tried to delete a mail
folder (which he created under the web mail interface)
, it always came back with this error message
"Time out while waiting for the server response"
(He used Internet Explorer in doing this)
Now instead of trouble shooting for him, could I simply
use the commands to delete that particular folder for
him ? If yes, what are the commands procedure
