How to create my own application directory in webapp folder of Tomcat 5.5.9

HI All

I am new bie to JSP. I want to create a seperate directory for my application in TOMCAT 5.5.9, rather than using the ROOT folder. How can I configure the directory in the server on windows. And how to create web.xml for different application and simple JSP application? From where I can found the structure of WEB.XML?
