how to create a master detail pdf report using apex and BI Publisher

Hi Gurus,

I need help in creating a master detail pdf report using apex and BI Publisher. I have three tables a described below. academic and service tables have multiple records against one master record.

master table

master_id,
name,
address,
...


academic table

academic_id,
master_id references master(master_id),
degree,
passing_year,
...


service table

service_id,
master_id references master(master_id),
dept_served,
start_date,
end_date,
...

I need the report in following shape. It should print the following info for each row in master.


Master ID: 501
Name: abc
Address: xyz

Degree Name Passing Year ....

S.S.C. 1992 ...
H.S.S.C 1994 ...
Graduation 1998 ...
M.Sc. 2000 ...

Department Start Date End Date
HR 01-mar-2001 31-dec-2001
COMPUTER 01-jan-2002 31-dec-2002
...

My questions?

1. Do I need to write three separate queries in shared components/report queries?
2. If yes then, I need to know, how to link these three queries in BI Pulisher Desktop Addin in MS Word?
3. If no then, whats the other way arround, as combining these tables produces cartesian product of these three tables, which I think is not the best practice.
4. Tell me if there is any good tutorial available for creating complex pdf reports using apex and BI Publisher?
