How to connect ESRI to Oracle

439321Mar 28 2006 — edited Apr 3 2006
Hello, I'm having some problems and doubts connecting Oracle Spatial with ESRI's ArcGIS.

I have tables in Oracle DB containing spatial data. I would like to create in my Oracle DB additional tables and/or spatial data coming from GIS sofware such as Mapinfo 7.5, Autodesk Map 3D and Caris GIS. According to ESRI's distributor in Peru, I would have to re-create those tables in ArcSDE in order to use ESRI's sofware named ArcGIS.

1. ESRI wants us to manage and administer all spatial data in ArcSDE. We want to work and centrally manage the spatial and non-spatial data in Oracle DB

2. ESRI's distributor in Peru does not work with Oracle Spatial and therefor cannot help with this issue. The only way they know to connect ESRI ArcGIs is through ArcSDE

3. In simple words, we want migrate all spatial data from Mapinfo, Autodesk Map and CARIS to Oracle Spatial and have ArcGIS read these data directly from Oracle. Is that possible? How can I do that?

Thank you very much for your help
