How to configure large hard drive solaris 8 intel?

I have a Maxtor 40 gig 7200 ATA66 hard drive. During the install process on a Compaq Deskpro (PIII 600) the Solaris 8 installer is only able to "see" about 6.8 Gig of the drive.

*** Not so good, since I want to be able to use the system with Oracle 8i and need lots of space.

I did some searching in the forum but did not find anything more than a hint or two that it "might be possible" to update some Solaris files so that it would be able to use this drive.

Can someone from Sun or anyone who has done this give me a few specific hints and/or steps that I will need to follow to get this drive setup correctly?
