How to configure ASM disks for extended RAC

user896782Sep 16 2017 — edited Sep 17 2017

Hi all,

I'm trying to build extended RAC setup in our lab with VMs with no success.

When I start the grid setup with the configured ASM assigned disks (local disks per node, NOT shared like typical RAC cluster).

It fails to finish the cluster with ASM errors regarding the disks not being shared.

Is'n it the entire point that each node will have its local disks and then do host based mirroring?

I need to understand how to start the extended RAC creation during the setup, what am I doing wrong in the initial setup?

Since this is intended to be an extended RAC, I configured each node with local disks and started the GRID setup but fail with error on disks not being shared.

The setup is on a test lab on ESXi with VMs of RHEL 6.9 with local disks per VM and a third VM for the witness disk.

any help will be appreciated,

Thanks,
