how to close, open notification's or FYI's

Dear All
we are using 11.5.10.2 release and there are thousand's of notifications which needs to be closed for purging.
I have run the "purge bsolete workflow runtime data".
Is there any procduere to colsed these open notification's so that they get eligible for purging.
