How to Clean up Oracle Linux 5 Hard Disk Space ?

user8860348Feb 4 2014 — edited Feb 5 2014

Folks,

Hello. My host machine is Windows 7 and Guest OS is Vitual Machine Oracle Linux 5.

I installed Oracle Database 11gR1 in guest OS Oracle Linux 5.

Because I run RMAN > RESTORE DATABASE a few times and it consumes much disk space in Oracle Linux 5. I cannot continue to run RMAN > RESTORE DATABASE because the system indicates that not enough disk space to do.

As I know, in Ubuntu, when install Software, the package manager downloads all packages to the system and then cache them there in case they need to install again. This wastes much disk space. Its directory is /var/cache/apt/archives. We can delete the files in this folder to get much disk space.

But in Oracle Linux 5, I don't know which directory holds duplicated downloaded software and how to delete them to get disk space.

My question is:

How to clean up hard disk in Oracle Linux 5 to get more Disk Space ?

Thanks in advance.
