how To check the validity of export dmp file

Hi all,
I am triying to import a export dmp file (the epxort was taken from 8.1.5 and i am doing the import on 8.1.7 oracle ) the import is getting hanged in between and i have tryied this a number of times now and again and again its getting hanged i feel that the export file might be corrupt but before coming to this conclusion i want to authenticate that this file is corrupt or not so is there any way to check the epxort dmp file so pls share it with me
