how to change the apex username without resetting the password

Hi Experts,

I am using APEX 4.2

I want to change/edit the apex username. I tried to do using APEX_UTIL.EDIT_USER. But the old password doesn't work anymore.

If i reset the username back to the old one, the password works.

Is there a way i can get this accomplished ?
