How to change spfile on Oracle 10G

595042Aug 28 2007 — edited Aug 29 2007
Hi Everyone,

On 10G version, Oracle puts the spfile inside oracle\10.XX\dbs with special format and another spfile in ...admin/SID_Name/pfile/init.ora.XXXXXXXXX . The problem is database cannot start if I modify the spfile in oracle\10.XX\dbs directory. Why Oracle creates this ffile in special format? Is SpfileSID.ORA should not be modified? On 9I version, I can change almost any parameters if I want to without any problem. Are there anyway for me tell Oracle process to use the spfile text file in 9I fomat at different location permanently ?

Regards,

Jdang
