How to call a function in Select Statement with out type parameters

Hi all,

I am using Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.1.0 while OS is Windows 2000 Server.

I just want to know that can i call a function having in and out type parameters in a SELECT statement? If Yes then how? If No then why?

Any example, any note, any aritcle regarding this.
