How do I create my own custom wizard?

eevictimNov 15 2011 — edited Nov 18 2011
Hello Gents,

Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0.

I am attempting, rather feebly, to whip up a Part Number Creation Wizard using a train task flow. I've been piddling about with this, but thought it best to ask "The Professionals."

Here are the steps ...

1) User clicks on the Create Part button.
2) A CreateInsert on the Parts Data Control fires and the user enters the Train Task Flow.
3) User fills in fields relevant to the Parts data control (Number, Description, etc.) and clicks next on the Train Task Flow.
4) User then needs to fill in relevant data in the Pricing data control fields. The Parts and Pricing data controls are connected by an association on the entity level and view link on the view objects level.

Step #4 is a booger. Rows need to be created in the Pricing entity once step #3 is completed. I thought a doDML insert operation would be good, but it doesn't fire until I click Finish on the wizard.

How do you guys generally handle these Wizards? The customer needs to enter information stored in several related tables, but how to accomplish this? I need a cascade create function it seems.

Thanks,
Will
