How can we run 4GB SGA in 8GB real memory system?

126907Mar 9 2002
Currently I am using SuSE linux 7.3 professional and Oracle 9i
under quad Xeon system which has 8GB memory
I already installed Oracle9i using orarun9i.rpm offered by SuSE.
So I think there is no missetting of shared memory parameters.

But there is a big problem now !
Whenever I setup a 4GB SGA, the database cannot startup.
(shared memory allocation problem, I cannot remember exact ORA
error code )

How can I solve this problem ?

Please tell me step by step solution.

Thanks.
