How can i find what caused the instance to crash
443294Mar 14 2008 — edited Mar 14 2008Our production database crashed recently. The DBA had to login to the server and start the instance manually using a startup command. What is strange is the shutdown was never reported in alert.log file. The alert.log shows that the database was started up. My understanding is whenever a database goes down something is written to alert.log and trace files. Is this this correct? I'm pasting the last portions of my alert.log file. ( the database was started up manually at 12.46 pm ) How can find out caused the database to go down. The server is windows server 2003 service pack 2 and database on 10.2.0.3.0. Pls advise
