How can I completely delete Java Runtime Environment from my computer
BoholdtDec 15 2011 — edited Dec 27 2011Hi everyone,
Since I will completely delete all information about Java Runtime Environment on my computer (so I can start from scratch), I have a question I hope that some persons will take the time to answer:
First of all I have removed Java Runtime Environment via ADD / Remove Programs (in the Windows control panel).
Next I have deleted all directories I have found there is related to Java Runtime Environment (manually I have found it by Windows Explorer).
Next I have searched after many keys in the Windows registry database and removed these keys.
Now to my questions:
1. Has Oracle a program there completely can remove all things regarding Java Runtime Environment (including files, all keys in the Windows registry database etc.)?
2. I am in doubt about how I can remove the following keys from the Windows registry database or not:
1. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\JavaScript
2. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\JavaScript Author
3. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\JavaScript1.2 Author
4. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\JavaScript1.3
5. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\JavaScript1.3 Author
6. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\PROTOCOLS\Handler\javascript
7. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Handler\javascript
8. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\JavaPlugin.1010
9. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\JavaScript
10. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\JavaScript Author
11. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\JavaScript1.2 Author
12. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\JavaScript1.3
13. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\JavaScript1.3 Author
---
I have two computers (one with Windows XP Service Pack 3 and another with Windows 7 64-bit).
I looking forward to hear from you.
Very thanks for the answers, and have a nice day.
Regards,
Anders
