hotspot server does not work with J2SE 1.3.1

I have installed J2SE 1.3.1, and I have download hotspot server 2.0 vm. But when I try to install it I get a message from hotspot server installation program asking me for a JDK 1.2.2 or 1.3 version.

Does hotspot server work with JDK 1.3.1?

I have tried also by copying the server folder from a previous installation to the javasoft folder and It seems to work fine, but I think that this should not work this way.

Has any of you found this behaviour?
