Hostname not in cn for certificate

Hello,

I've been provided with a certificate to import in order to talk to an app through a JBOSS server. Problem is the certificate has not been generated with the cn component equal to the remote machine's hostname, so the handshake fails. Is there a way around this (I've tried adding an alias in the hosts file, but to no avail)?
