Hostname is too long

AndrewDJJul 31 2014 — edited Jul 31 2014

Hi Guys

I'm attempting to install Oracle Database 12c R1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 within a MS AD Domain but I'm running into the error INS-20808 Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server failed

The log file says my hostname is too long:

INFO: Read: Service is being created.

WARNING: Skipping line: Service is being created.

INFO: Read: Error: hostname oracleDBhost001.global.domain1.xxxxx01 is too long.

WARNING: Skipping line: Error: hostname oracleDBhost001.global.domain1.xxxxx01 is too long.

My question: What is the maximum length to use for the hostname? I can't find it documented anywhere

regards,

Andrew
