host.deny and host.allow

I have a small network of 50 users. I'm new to the use of host.deny and host.allow. Can anyone provide what I type in the host.allow and or host.deny if I wish to prevent a user (example smith) from using ftp or telnet on a particular host system (Solaris 10).
