Heterogeneous OS for peoplesoft HCM

for some reason our peoplesoft team wants to create a new development environment on linux or windows. The production and test are on AIX. I am concerned about this setup.

Does anyone has worked in this hetro mode and what are pitfalls to watch for ?

HCM and Finance ( tools 8.49 )/ PS 9.0
