Help with Java

Dear all

I am not a programmer but I installed the latest java update in my windows vista. After that, I've been unable to see embedded videos. Youtube videos work fine only when I go to their site but not the embedded ones. No facebook video works. I have to actually click on the related link to go to the original site and see the video.

Does anybody know the problem? I don't know where to look to see the version of java I installed but I get update alerts in my pc from time to time and I always install the latest version.

I would be very thankful if you could help me in this regard.
