Help with FCIP warnings in message log

796344Aug 21 2006 — edited Jun 11 2010
Hello All,

I am fairly new to solaris and was wondering if somebody might know what these warnings mean in the message log:

Aug 21 21:15:13 blade3 fcip: [ID 842839 kern.warning] WARNING: fcip(0): port attach failed
Aug 21 21:15:13 blade3 fctl: [ID 626979 kern.warning] WARNING: fctl(0): attach failed for SunFC FCIP v20060622-1.45
Aug 21 21:15:23 blade3 fcip: [ID 842839 kern.warning] WARNING: fcip(1): port attach failed
Aug 21 21:15:23 blade3 fctl: [ID 626979 kern.warning] WARNING: fctl(1): attach failed for SunFC FCIP v20060622-1.45
Aug 21 21:15:33 blade3 fcip: [ID 842839 kern.warning] WARNING: fcip(3): port attach failed
Aug 21 21:15:33 blade3 fctl: [ID 626979 kern.warning] WARNING: fctl(3): attach failed for SunFC FCIP v20060622-1.45
# fcip(0): port attach failed

The machine is a V890 with 2 LP10000-E HBA's hooked up to an EMC CX300 with mpxio.

I have tested the failover of mpxio and that seems to be working correctly. I can pull a fiber cable and the path fails over to its secondary and when I plug it back in, they automatically return to the primary path. I just recently started seeing these warnings. I have gotten about 3 of these in the past 7 days. All around the same time.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Gary
