help with add_months function

select ADD_MONTHS(funcdtform(stdate,24)) from Tab_s1

ORA-00909: invalid number of arguments

funcdtform is a function which formats the date to MM/DD/YYYY this format.
initially date is stored as varchar2 'YYYYMMDD ' format.
