Help setting up Sun Cluster Development Lab....

807567Apr 18 2005 — edited Jun 20 2005
Hi,

I'm new to Sun Cluster and am desperately trying to set-up a small development cluster lab.

The kit I've managed to get together is as follows:

2 x Sun Ultra 5's, both with 512mb RAM, 3 x Ethernet, 1 x LVD SCSI.
1 x D1000 Array for global storage. 4 x 18Gb disks. 2 on left side of array, 2 on right side.

From the Sun training it suggests I need two D1000's - however, that's not possible. I've also read that it's possible to set it up with only one D1000.

Basically I need to know how to configure the D1000 so it can be shared by both machines.

i've found the following Sun PDF:

http://www.filibeto.org/sun/lib/applications/clustering/sun-cluster/hw_admin_coll/817-0170.pdf

This document shows you how to connect a D1000 to the same host. I've got as far as connecting the D1000 in the manner shown. An ultra 5 going into each side of the array, and a SCSI lead connecting both sides.

However, when I try to set the SCSI initiator using the supplied command the Ultra 5 refuses to even recognise the command.

I've tried doing a probe-scsi-all. The machine connected to the left side of the array runs the command fine - and picks up ALL FOUR SCSI disks. The other Ultra 5 complains about unexpected disconnects. I'm suspecting this is due to a SCSI conflict.

If someone could please me understand what I need to do to fix this I'd really appreciate it.

Many Thanks!
