Right ok this has been dumped on to me....i do have limited experience so bare with me please.(apologies for big post)
i have used the search function. been reading lots sites and forums and trying lots of different settings to get a result, but im stuck which is why im posting.
backup is no longer working to tape. i'm trying to get this sorted.
we have a commvault server on windows 2003 that tries to initiate a backup but complains about rman crosscheck failing. ran the crosscheck(backupset, backup,archivelog all) on server failing, all 8 objects backup pieces checked and available. 50 validation successes for archives=log.
on the server in question thats failing, windows 2003 oracle 10g, looking at backups it used to back up to sbt_tape until december 12th 2014, i have since run a back up and it backups up but to disk instead.
looking at the show all; it looks like the channel config for sbt is not right. the environment variables path does have the entry in it to point to the orasbt.dll in the commvault folder location. but the entry on the config is missing parms i think.
there is a tnsnames.ora with the comvault server details in it but im not sure how that comes in to play with the name rmanprd.
the retention policy is 7 days but there are backups being listed as far back as oct2014 on tape, could that be causing an issue? i tried to run and delete obsolete; but it fails with this:
