Help on Setting Up Solaris GCC

I am trying to install a open source software and when i do this i get the following error message -

checking whether the compiler (/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc) actually works... configure: error: the native compiler is broken and won't compile.

I don't understand this error message. Can some one help.
