Help needed installing on Mac 10.5.8 (what and where is my JDK?)

Hello -

I am relatively new to Mac and am trying to install JDeveloper.
This is what I've done so far, but I'm not sure what's next and I think I'm missing a piece of the process.

- I downloaded Oracle JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.2.0) and tried to do go thru the installation, but I can't get past the JDK Selection (because I don't know what or where the JDK is)

- I read about how to find Java Preferences, and I ran it to be sure that Java SE 6 64-bit is at the top of my list; it was and is

- I did step 6 of [Using Oracle JDeveloper on Mac OS X Platforms|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/install.1111/e13666/ojdig.htm#BDCFFEJC]
which was:
a. making JDK 6.0 the default VM
b. enabling the root user
c. creating a symbolic link
d. disabling the root user

I can't find any instructions for installing JDK. The Java site says that Apple Computer supplies their own version of Java.... but do I need the JDK flavor of Java?

Is it already hiding on my computer somewhere? Where? The JDeveloper site is asking me where it is...

I appreciate your assistance -
Marion
