Help make Firefox access the internet?

581022Jun 26 2007 — edited Jul 9 2008
Hello
Internet Explorer running XP access the internet fine on my Dell Duo Core x86 laptop but when I run Unbreakble Enterprise Linux Firefox can't access the internet. I was told to issue the commands:

1.ifconfig
2.cat /etc/resolv.conf

which displayed something like this:

etho link encap; etho :00:15:15:10:22:BF
inaddr: 169.254.1.0 BCast 169.254.1.125 mask:255.255.255.0
up Broadcast multicast MTU:150 Metric:1
rx packet:0 ...
collision:0 ...
rx bytes:0 ...
interrupt:217

lo link:local loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 mask 255.0.0.0
inet addr: up loopback running Mtu:16436 Metric:1

I think it is worth noting that when I connect using Windows XP I am connecting using the public libraries wireless connection and/or cable connection and that if I look at my hardware in Windows it is the following:

If I go to "Network Connections" and select "Wireless Network Connections" is says "Connected, Firewalled".
Connect using:
-Dell Wireless Connection 1390 WLAN Mini-Card

Also if I go into "Device Manager" I see:
"Network Adapters"
-1394 Net Adapter
-Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller
-Dell Wireless Connection 1390 WLAN Mini-Card

Consequently, I am asking how do I make Firefox access the internet?
