Help ! Failed Windows 2000 professional client connection

226193Mar 1 2002
I've tried everything suggested thus far, but i've still to achieve sucessful. So once again here's the problem:

I have installed the Oracle8i Enterprise Edition server option on a windows NT 4 machine, after which I sucessfully conected to, and selected data from the starter database.

After performing what seemed like a sucessful client install on a Windows 2000 Professional machine, I could not, and still cannot connect to the database from the client machine, even though all associated network files seem to be correct and consistent.

The server machine is available, ping and tnsping were both sucessful, and all required services are running correctly.

I'm stuck and simply don't know what else to try.
