Hi All,
I have spent over 3 years developing a Java game and I needed feedback, so I went to an IRC chat forum at a game developer's web site.
2 people said they would like to help so I gave them the address where the game could be launched with webstart.
Their downloading of the game took far longer than usual and they were discussing an applet one of them had written that uses XOR bit shifting and textures. This is something I dont know much about.
Anyway they seemed to be having problems running the game so I went to my website and launched it. The Java console appeared with addresses to an unfamiliar web site. When my game started their these large black and white squares all over my game screen. I have tried evertyhing yo get rid of this but nothing works.
I decided it might be safer to allow the game to be downloaded and launched with the JSmooth wrapper program. When I started to generate the exe the squares appeared in JSmooth.
I have tried deleting all java run times and only using the latest but I cant get rid of this. Sometimes the squares look a bit like a game background and sometimes they look like black and white checks.
I have tried AVG and Panda anti viruses but they never detect anything. Ive tried about 5 different spyware and malware programs too but nothing is detected. It even happens in Netbeans now, and there seems to be no solution.
I went to one of the addresses that were in Java Console when the problem started. It led here:
Forum
The forum posting seems to be discussing running a private channel alongside the IRC channel I was on.
The webmaster of the site has been very helpful but doesnt think it happened on the IRC chat. Can someone please help with this?
The game runs fine on other machines so maybe it is just mine that is affected?
This is going to result in 3 years of wasted work. I have no idea how to fix it.
I wasnt sure what subject to put it under and thought that networking folk might know about IRC and viruses but please let me know if it is off topic and I will repost.
