HCM Cloud API user/role setup

Atanas NenovFeb 12 2024

Hi,

We’ve been contacted by our client who wanted to do some tests via the Oracle HCM API in order to retrieve employees’ documents and update some info (email address).

They created a specific new user in their DEV environment and are using the tool POSTMAN to perform the tests. They are facing the following issue : they seem to be able to perform the GET process (view the data) but not the PATCH one (update the info). Every time they run the PATCH process, they are facing an error (cf : screenshots) with the mention “forbidden”. They seem to be able to connect but not to access the data – we thought that might be linked to limited roles/privileges.

Consequently, we tried to create a new user and we added the following job/data roles : IT Security Manager / Integration Specialist (including predefined duty roles – Use REST Service – worker as worker / Worker as Manager / Worker as HR) but nothing seems to solve the PATCH problem we encounter (cf : screenshots)

We’ve also read and tried to implement the following articles but with no success as of now:

- Fusion REST API Workers - 403 Forbidden Error While Updating Worker Email (oracle.com)

- REST API for Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM

We are a bit stuck here… has anyone already experienced the same issue ?

Thank you in advance for your feedback.
