Having problems installing the Pro*C compiler on RedHat 9

I am having problems with getting the client libraries and in particular the Pro*C/C++ precompiler. When the OUI goes to install it stays stuck at 9% on Linking Precompiler Common Files.

When I go and look at the make.log the last entry is :

chmod 751 /oracle/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/bin/nid

After this the machine just hangs.

I have the following box that I am installing on :
Celeron 800
768MB of RAM
1GB of Swap
Redhat 9
