Handling Trigger Exceptions in APEX

vikasksinhaSep 26 2010 — edited Sep 27 2010
Hello Friends,

I am 2 months old in APEX(3.2) knowledge , although working with Oracle database with quite some time. I wanted to understand how does Oracle APEX handles the exception thrown from the Oracle Table Triggers. Following is the scenerio

1) We have a table with Name , Start date and end date.
2) We have put a triggers in a database that 2 names (Same names) cannot be valid in the same time period e.g

Name Start date end date
1) QQ 12-SEP-2010 12-DEC-2010 (If this exixts in database), THEN
2) QQ 12-SEP-2010 NULL --> Not Allowed
3) QQ 15-SEP-2010 12-NOV-2010 --> Not allowed
4) QQ 13-Dec-2010 ............ --> is ALLOWED

3) Above validation is very much in place in Oracle Tables. We are raising Trigger exception in case there is Period overlap
4) Error thrown from the triggers SHOULD be diplayed in the Inline in Notification. But we are not able to locate , how and where we can handle this in Oracle APEX.

Any expert opinion please ?

Thanks and Regards,
Vikash Kumar
