Handling Invalid parameters?

Hi,

My report is a crosstab report

1)I have a parameter in discoverer plus report.
It is based on LOV and has a list of values say 'A','B','C'
If I enter any other value say 'D' ...Is there a mechanism to popup or display a informative message saying the "parameter value you entered is not a valid one"

2)Is there a Mechanism to avoid displaying if report grid when no data for the report is retrieved.I need to display an informative message "No data for parameter selection made" and it should not display the blank grid

Any help is appreciated....
