Hi,

I have an issue with installing Solaris 10 on my comp. I got a nice GUI while installing the software from the CD. After I removed the

First CD and rebooted the comp, the GUI was still there, so I went ahead and installed the remaining three CDs. At the end, I was asked to

reboot, when I rebooted, I got a choice to boot into Solaris or WIndows. I chose Solaris and it booted solaris, told me to wait till it loads

the GUI but all I got was a black screen and a monitor message saying the Frequency is low. So I tried re installing the OS several times,

with different options for Video. I discovered that I had to keep the HF (probably stands for Horizontal Frequency.) between 30kHz-54kHZ.

I chose several options for the same. Even went to the extent of selecting LCD screen option, for the only reason that the HF was 38kHZ. Also

chose lower resolution, Still, it would give me a black screen after installation. I can work on the command prompt but cannot get the GUI.

I did get the GUI when I installed Fedora Core 3 and Windows 2000, but not with Solaris 10. With Fedora, it allows me to get into Gnome or K

Desktop without any problem. It works fine with FC3.

My concern is, if there was a problem with the video drivers, it should not show the GUI at all, atleast not when I reboot from the hard disk,

after the software from the first CD is installed, it does show me the GUI (Which, by the way is really cool). It shows me the GUI during the

entire process of installation, Just that after the installation is complete, when I reboot, I get the Out Of Frequency message on the

computer. Following is the configuration of my comp

Monitor: LG 500E
Motherboard: Gigabyte 8LD 533K With Intel 845 chipset (Solaris says I have a Brookdale chipset/driver. I did not change the video driver

option)
RAM: 512 MB
Processor: Intel Celeron 1.7Ghz

Is it that no matter what I choose the GUI wont work or is it that I am missing something? Please help.
