Google search from Java

807580Jan 23 2007 — edited Jan 11 2010
I would like to be able to send a query string to google and receive the first N results, all that from within my java application. I just went to the google website and noticed that their SOAP api has been discontinued. My question: has anybody recently done this and are there java api's available that help you?

If there are no API's, and you connected to something like http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=queryTerm1+queryTerm2&btnG=Google+Search
(i.e. a google search for "queryTerm1 queryTerm2") parsed the page and stripped the relevant urls, would that violate any terms of use? Regarding this second question, I'm wondering if anyone has had to do this, I realize that it's probably best to somehow find this information directly from Google.
