Golden Gate Monitor on remote server

John StegemanMar 14 2016 — edited Mar 16 2016

Hello all,

I'm trying to set up GoldenGate monitor to monitor a replication between two databases. I have configured the monitor server just fine - now I'm having problems with the agent. I installed monitor server on a server that we use for monitoring - it's not the database/gg server. I then proceeded to install and configure the agent on the database/gg server. I note in the jagent log file that it's throwing java.rmi.AccessException: Registry.Registry.bind disallowed; origin /xx.xx.xx.xx is non-local host, where xx.xx.xx.xx is the IP address of the monitor server.

Do the monitor server and monitor agent both have to be installed on the database/GG server? If so, how exactly does that work - as there will be multiple database/GG servers (obviously the source and the target are different servers)?

If I'm missing something in the docs, please feel free to give me an RTFM link

Thanks,

John
