Gnome/JDS crash using slider bar

807557Sep 13 2005 — edited Sep 14 2005
I recently installed solaris 10 on a sunblade 1500. I applied all the available patches yesterday and now I am having a problem with gnome/JDS. When using the slider bar on windows, the window will crash. This is most evident and easiest to reproduce using mozilla as for some reason it crashes almost instantly. However, normal terminal windows also crash and in fact will often take down any other terminal window currently open on that desktop. I am not getting any error messages and /var/adm/messages is not picking up any errors. I have increased error logging in syslog to include debug, error and informational messages but this is not producing any additional error messages. I am not getting core files nor can I find any other type of crash log. I have backed out all the gnome patches applied by the recent patch and this has had no positive effect. The problem does not appear to exist under CDE. Has anyone had a similiar experience and been able to track down a source? I fear this is a result of a gnome lib patch that update manager says can not be backed out. It is also worrying me about applying similiar patches to production servers that may become unstable as a result.

Advice is welcome
