Gnome Error (A problem has occured...)

StanBykJan 16 2016 — edited Jan 17 2016

Hi everyone,

I seem to have a problem with gnome. My computer doesn't boot into its graphical interface anymore, instead I get a grey screen with the following message: a problem has occurred and the system can't recover.

My system is an HP ML110 G6(?) server. I am running Oracle Linux 7.2 with the latest updates.

Here is some more information, hope this helps:

[root@spookiest ~] # inxi -G

Graphics:  Card: Matrox Systems MGA G200e [Pilot] ServerEngines (SEP1)

           Display Server: X.org 1.17.2 drivers: (unloaded: fbdev,vesa)

tty size: 123x24 Advanced Data: N/A for root out of X

[root@spookiest~]# grep \(EE\) `ls -ltr /var/log/Xorg*log |awk '{print $9}' |tail -1`

(WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.

[    91.230] (EE) modeset(0): glamor initialization failed

[    91.831] (EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering

Unfortunately I am not experienced enough with to sort this out myself. I would very much appreciate any help I could get. Please let me know if you need any more information, e.g. log files, etc.

Thank you all in advance!

Best,

Robert
