gif files not showing in report

I have customized a report somewhat by inserting gif logos etc (9i). When I run the report I get an empty container where the image should be but is not. I used the wizard to make the report and replaced the pointer to the logo.gif file to my own gif file. I do some web design but have never encountered such a problem. TIA.
