gettint hours, minutes and seconds from Timestamp object

i use the Timestamp object to insert the date and time in to oracle from jsp page .
This insert all these accuratly.
When i want to retrive the time i use the date formater etc which displays the time in the formate 21-May-1987 3.09.07 am
Now i want to get the date and hours explicitly .For days i use the Timestamp object with tm.getDate () method wich give the required date but WHEN i use tm.getHours (); then it always give me 0
Please tell me how i get the hours, minutes and seconds in this sanerio
