Getting windowing environment on Solaris 9

807559Aug 3 2006 — edited Aug 7 2006
Hi, I'm just starting to get into linux/unix. There's a server machine that is using oracle, which has a graphical interface. I need to set up remote graphical access to that machine, so i can alter the oracle settings.

I've installed cygwin/x onto my client computer, and I've connected to the server machine from X, but from that point on, i am lost as to how i can pull up an actual GUI. Even though i'm using X, i'm still on a command prompt within X. Is there something I need to set up on the server?

If anyone can tell me the answer, or point me to a resource for beginners, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
