Getting the URL from address bar

Hello,

I want to get the url with the query strings from the address bar.I went through few references but they were talking about a request object I don't know.Is there a way to get the url from the address bar?

I am creating a plugin for a web page which needs the URL.
I am using Java API but not applets and servlets.Tomcat is being used but it came is not installed on my system.
